Engaging our stories with attuned individuals provides us the space to receive what we didn’t as children. To develop as infants, we needed a safe, curious, loving, and attuned caregiver who delighted in our company and soothed us when we were distressed. Yet for half of our population (at least in the US), we didn’t receive this consistent, loving attention for our brains to optimally develop.
