Beth Sri, Story Group Facilitator and Spiritual Director

Beth Sri is a graduate of Benedictine College and was among the first FOCUS missionaries. Married to Dr. Edward Sri, mother of eight children, and grandmother, she has a heart for those around her, meeting them in the deep, sacred intersection of their human hearts and the innate glory of God. She is a certified spiritual director (Institute for Ministry Formation) and has participated in, co-facilitated and led story groups with Catholic Story Groups since 2024. She has been trained by the Allender Center in Narrative Focused Trauma Care at the Seattle School of Theology and Psychology. Beth also helps lead retreats in Denver for Life-Giving Wounds, a ministry for adult children of divorce. 

Though not Italian, she relishes cooking up “authentico” Italian pastas for her growing family. When she is not in the kitchen making a quadruple batch of something or chauffeuring children somewhere, she can be found on a run or walk in the Colorado sunshine, curled up with an annotated Jane Austen novel, or boisterously cheering for her kids at their soccer games. 

Why story work?

It’s been said that ‘it’s in relationships that we’ve been harmed and it’s in relationships that we will heal.” Where one-on-one relationships like therapy and spiritual direction are helpful and necessary (I need it all!), group work offers exponential healing, a true experience of being held by the Body of Christ in the hearts and faces of those who are radically with us as we revisit our vulnerable stories of harm together. Story work is a deep, sacred and human adventure, and one I’ve found to be personally disruptive in all the right ways.
